The Art of Growth

Letter from the Publishers

Welcome to the June/July issue of International Artist magazine! In this issue, we proudly present our annual Workshops and Schools Guide, starting on page 32.  This issue celebrates artistic growth, education and the lifelong pursuit of mastery. Our founder, Vincent Miller, often said, “Artists who subscribe to International Artist are eternal learners.” After six years as publishers of International Artist, Adolfo and I could not agree more. The most accomplished artists are rarely those who stop learning; they are the ones who remain curious, open and continually inspired by new techniques and perspectives. Whether you are attending a workshop for the first time or refining your craft through advanced study, we hope this directory becomes a valuable resource for your artistic journey.

I believe our editor Alyssa Tidwell was inspired this month because she has eight-plus demonstration features inside this issue. This includes everything from watercolor, acrylic and oil to colored pencil and mixed media.  If you have a subject you want to try with a new painting method, keep this issue. A magazine written by artists for artists is very rewarding for both the artist writer and the artist reader, as they hone their craft. There is a saying, “If you can teach it you can master it.” Being a demonstration artist and having your techniques published is a great step toward expertise. We hope you enjoy the many informative and educcational demos throughout this issue. The first one, with oil painter Alexandra Averbach, starts on page 50.

Art is never a finished destination—it is an evolving conversation between passion, discipline and discovery. We are honored to be part of your story.

Sincerely,
Wendie Martin & Adolfo Castillo
